At Maine Delite, we specialize in raising home-bred Maine Coon kittens with love, care, and a lifelong commitment to quality. Based in Central Ohio, our family-run cattery has been dedicated to the Maine Coon breed since 2001, producing healthy, well-socialized kittens for both pet lovers and show homes.
All of our purebred Maine Coon cats are raised in our home, surrounded by family and affection. We are a closed cattery, which means we do not participate in outside breeding—ensuring a clean, safe, and secure environment for our kittens.
If you're searching for Maine Coon kittens for sale in Ohio, or looking to welcome a gentle giant lap cat into your family, you’re in the right place. Our kittens are vet-checked, vaccinated, and ready to join loving, responsible homes.

Physical Characteristics of the Maine Coon
Large Size
Maine Coons are the largest domesticated cat breed.
•Males: up to 28–30+ pounds
•Females: up to 15–18+ pounds
They have a muscular, rectangular body, a strong bone structure, and a large frame that sets them apart.
Thick, Luxurious Coat
Their long, double-layered coat is thick and fluffy.
•Sheds seasonally (like a fox)
•Shorter fur: shoulders, back, hips
•Longer fur: mane, chest, belly, and "britches"
Maine Coons come in a wide range of coat colors and patterns including tabby (mackerel and classic), solid, bi-color, and more.
Big, Furry Paws
They have large, tufted paws that help them walk in snow. I often describe them as wearing slippers because of all the toe fur! Some Maine Coons may have polydactylism (extra toes), although I personally do not breed for this trait due to possible health concerns.
Bushy, Expressive Tail
Their long, bushy tails help with balance and act as a warm blanket in cold weather. When curled around their body, it can even reach the shoulders—adding to their signature majestic look.
Maine Coon Personality Traits
Friendly & Affectionate
Maine Coons are highly social cats that often follow their humans from room to room. They thrive on attention and companionship, making them a great choice for families with kids or other pets—as long as everyone understands respectful socialization.
Playful & Energetic
These cats love to play and interact.
•Enjoy fetch, chase toys, climbing
•Easily excitable—so setting boundaries during playtime is essential
•"Rules of engagement" help prevent rough play
Highly Intelligent
Maine Coons are quick learners.
•Can be trained to open doors, use water dispensers, and more
•Will train you to know when it’s time to eat or play
•Masters of hide-and-seek!
Adaptability
Maine Coons are versatile and adaptable cats.
They can comfortably live in apartments or large homes, though they do need space to move around and get active. Most of the time, however, they just want to be near you—on your lap or by your side.
Other Unique Traits
Vocal & Talkative
Maine Coons are known for their charming chirps, trills, and meows. Their vocalizations help you understand their moods and personality quirks.
Water-Loving Cats
Unlike most breeds, Maine Coons are often fascinated by water. Don't be surprised if they try to join you in the shower or play in the sink!
Slow to Mature
They don’t reach full physical maturity until 4–5 years of age. Between ages 3–4, you’ll notice them becoming taller, wider, and more muscular—it’s like watching your kitten grow into a majestic lion!
Final Thoughts
If you're searching for a large, intelligent, and affectionate cat, the Maine Coon might be your perfect match. Just be prepared for the commitment—they need regular brushing, grooming, enrichment, and love
Why Maine Coons Make Great Pets
Maine Coon cats are intelligent, trainable, and affectionate companions. Often described as gentle giants, they are known for their dog-like loyalty and playful nature. These cats are adaptable and can thrive in various environments, including apartments and larger homes, as long as they have enough space to exercise and play.
If you're considering a Maine Coon, keep in mind they require consistent care and grooming, but their loving and playful personalities make it well worth the effort
